Putnam does it again - Wins
Fiddlestix 9-Ball Marathon! Shawn Putnam is arguably one of the
top professional pool players in Ohio today. He certainly convinced a field
of 52 players in a Race to 11, Double Elimination 9-Ball Tournament on the
small tables, at Fiddlestix on January 12 & 13. Putnam ran through the
field, unscathed, winning the winners bracket and then the entire event in
convincing fashion beating 2nd Place finisher Brian Frank 11-3 in
the final match. He opened the finals with a 5-pack, followed by Frank’s
3-pack, and then another 4-pack and then out. While we can argue Putnam is
the top player in northern Ohio, hats off to Brian Frank who may be the best
amateur player in the area today. Brian also went unbeaten until he played
Putnam – twice. Frank was put in the loser’s bracket by Putnam and then had
to face him a second time in the end. Finishing third and fourth respectively
was Brandon Hallet, from Toledo and Shayne Morrow, out of Wheeling, WV.
Fiddlestix extends their appreciation to all participants and Nick Steel for
running the Calcutta. Next, Fiddlestix is hosting an 8-Ball Marathon on March
1st and 2nd. Click
