League Rules

The objective of this league is to offer good competition to everyone. Individual standings and schedules shall be posted weekly at Fiddlestix plus on the internet at http://www.GCABA.com/cbl/eight_ball.htm. Here are the rules:

The game is 8-ball. All rules are in accordance with those rules set forth by the Billiard Congress of America. All regular season games must be played within twelve days after the end of the last league night, or they shall be considered forfeited. Any problem in scheduling makeup games should be referred to the league secretary as soon as possible.

Schedules and Scoring
The league secretary shall prepare a schedule with roster names and telephone numbers at the start of the season. One match for every two players, comprised of fifteen games, is scheduled for each night of league play. The opening break is determined by coin toss and subsequent breaks alternate. The winner of a game always receives ten (10) points and the loser receives one (1) point for every ball pocketed from his or her group of balls. After each league night, the secretary shall prepare a standing sheet. The player who has the most points at the end of the season wins the league. The tie breaker is determined based on the player who has the most wins.

VNEA rules apply, however, the 8-ball does not have to be designated with a patch. All bank shots, caroms, combination shots and other shots that are not obvious must be called. Jump shots and safeties are allowed. Pocketing the 8-ball on the break is not an automatic loss or win. Any player who pockets the 8-ball on the break, has the option of spotting the 8-ball and continuing shooting or re-breaking. If the player scratches while pocketing the 8-ball on the break, the opponent has the same options.

Each player's run outs, as well as 8-balls on the break, shall be recorded by the league secretary for the season. If two or more players tie for most run outs or 8-balls on-the-break, the prize money shall be split between the respective players.

All matches shall be played on the Valley tables unless both players mutually agree to play on a Diamond. However, runs shall only be recorded if the game is played on a Valley. Gambling is not permitted.
