INSTRUCTION - In my
opinion, there are two very good area instructors to choose from, depending on
your needs.
An excellent choice for a local instructor
is Jim Looman. Here's Jim's credentials:
· National Academy of Pocket Billiards, Inc. (Owners and Operators)
· Jim is a recognized Billiard Congress of America instructor.
· Jim is a certified Billiard Congress of America referee.
· Jim participates in the Billiard Congress of America Continuing Education Program.
· Jim is an adjunct professor at Malone College teaching four college credited pocket billiard classes.
· Jim has authored a complete college curriculum focused on pocket billiards.
· Jim has also been involved in teaching several health and human performance special classes at Malone College.
· Jim conducts pocket billiard clinics almost every Saturday in association with Danny Vegh’s recreational outlets.
· With a focus on community service and giving back, Jim volunteers two to three times a month at Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Hospital.
· Every other week, he teaches pocket billiards to inpatient substance abuse teenagers.
· Every other week he teaches adaptive pocket billiards to wheelchair patients.
· He has also provided special pool clinics designed for stroke victims at Edwin Shaw Hospital.

Whether you're a beginner or seasoned player, Tom Simpson should be able to help. Tom is a BCA Advanced Instructor: He can show you the basics, fine tune your stroke or work on advanced play (e.g. throw, curve, deflection, squirt, jump shots, etc.). He has invented several practice products for pool players and is the founder of Elephant Balls, ltd, a successful billiards company whose products are featured in the ESPN pool tournaments. It may be a little commute for Canton players, as he is based out of Columbus, but the drive is well worth it. You can take that to the bank.
